Around 1925, Marshville made the move from cotton to grain fields. Poultry and lumber industries are its main focus today.
Parts of the Steven Spielberg film, “The Color Purple” were filmed in downtown Marshville in 1985. The movie was nominated for 11 Academy Awards. The Marshville Museum and Cultural Center displays the history of the town.
